Psalms 37

Security of Those Who Trust in the Lord, and Insecurity of the Wicked.

A Psalm of David.

1 aDo not fret because of evildoers,
Be not benvious toward wrongdoers.
 2For they will cwither quickly like the grass
And dfade like the green herb.
 3 eTrust in the Lord and do good;
fDwell in the land and ▼
▼ Or feed securely or feed on His faithfulness
 , hcultivate faithfulness.
 4 iDelight yourself in the Lord;
And He will jgive you the desires of your heart.
 5 kCommit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
 6He will bring forth lyour righteousness as the light
And your judgment mas the noonday.

Rest in the Lord and owait ▼
▼ Or longingly
patiently for Him;
qDo not fret because of him who rprospers in his way,
Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.
 8Cease from anger and sforsake wrath;
Do not fret; it leads only to evildoing.
 9For tevildoers will be cut off,
But those who wait for the Lord, they will uinherit the land.
 10Yet va little while and the wicked man will be no more;
And you will look carefully for whis place and he will not be there.
 11But xthe humble will inherit the land
And will delight themselves in yabundant prosperity.

 12The wicked zplots against the righteous
And aagnashes at him with his teeth.
 13The Lord ablaughs at him,
For He sees achis day is coming.
 14The wicked have drawn the sword and adbent their bow
To cast down the aeafflicted and the needy,
To afslay those who are upright in conduct.
 15Their sword will enter their own heart,
And their agbows will be broken.

 16 ahBetter is the little of the righteous
Than the abundance of many wicked.
 17For the aiarms of the wicked will be broken,
But the Lord ajsustains the righteous.
 18The Lord akknows the days of the ▼

blameless,
And their aminheritance will be forever.
 19They will not be ashamed in the time of evil,
And anin the days of famine they will have abundance.
 20But the aowicked will perish;
And the enemies of the Lord will be like the ▼

glory of the pastures,
They vanish— aqlike smoke they vanish away.
 21The wicked borrows and does not pay back,
But the righteous aris gracious and gives.
 22For asthose blessed by Him will atinherit the land,
But those aucursed by Him will be cut off.

 23 avThe steps of a man are established by the Lord,
And He awdelights in his way.
 24When axhe falls, he will not be hurled headlong,
Because aythe Lord is the One ▼
▼ Or who sustains him with His hand
who holds his hand.
 25I have been young and now I am old,
Yet baI have not seen the righteous forsaken
Or bbhis ▼

descendants begging bread.
 26All day long bdhe is gracious and lends,
And behis ▼

descendants are a blessing.

 27 bgDepart from evil and do good,

▼ Or And dwell forever
So you will abide biforever.
 28For the Lord bjloves ▼

justice
And bldoes not forsake His godly ones;
They are bmpreserved forever,

 , bodescendants of the wicked will be cut off.
 29The righteous will bpinherit the land
And bqdwell in it forever.
 30The mouth of the righteous brutters wisdom,
And his tongue bsspeaks justice.
 31The btlaw of his God is in his heart;
His busteps do not slip.
 32The bvwicked spies upon the righteous
And bwseeks to kill him.
 33The Lord will bxnot leave him in his hand
Or bylet him be condemned when he is judged.
 34 bzWait for the Lord and keep His way,
And He will exalt you to inherit the land;
When the cawicked are cut off, you will see it.

 35I have cbseen a wicked, violent man
Spreading himself like a ccluxuriant ▼

He is their strength cpin time of trouble.

He crdelivers them from the wicked and saves them,
Because they cstake refuge in Him.
